Orthopedic injuries include all musculoskeletal aches and pains that are limiting your daily activities. This includes low back pain, chronic neck pain, strains, sprains, and sports injuries! An assessment involves examining movement patterns, muscle imbalances, joint mobility, and overall function. Your therapist will be able to analyze the assessment information and create an individualized treatment plan to help you reach your goals. Treatments may include a combination of manual therapy, dry needling, exercises, client education, and shockwave therapy.
Dizziness can be related to various conditions and ailments in the body. Commonly, it is from a dysfunction in the inner ear which can be tested for in a physiotherapy assessment. This involves screening with infrared goggles, oculomotor exams, balance testing, and musculoskeletal screening. An inner ear dysfunction may cause spinning sensations, swaying, imbalance, gait changes, motion sensitivity, nausea, and vomiting. Treatment usually involves corrective maneuvers in the clinic and a home program to retrain the vestibular system.
If you've been diagnosed with a concussion or head injury, it's a good idea to get assessed by a physiotherapist. The assessment will evaluate your symptoms and the severity of the injury. This may include musculoskeletal assessment, balance testing, cardiovascular screening, vestibular assessment, and cognitive evaluation. Your therapist will provide an appropriate return to work or return to sport program and give you strategies to optimize recovery. It's never too late to get assessed after a concussion (even if it happened years ago); there may be treatments available to help manage ongoing symptoms.
Sometimes your case doesn't fall into any of the categories, but you're seeking treatment and want to give physiotherapy a try. We love those cases and are willing to work with you to figure something out! We are not afraid of complex medical histories or rare and unusual ailments, so please reach out if you want our expertise on your case! If physiotherapy can't help, we will do our best to refer you to the appropriate practitioner.
MyoStretch Therapy was developed by our in-house Physiotherapist. This treatment involves full-body assisted stretching to address common areas of tightness and pain. Our therapists use soft tissue massage, positioning, and breathing techniques to work into tension points. This treatment can help alleviate neck tension, lower back pain, and improve flexibility. We highly recommend this session for clients that do not have an acute injury and are focusing on maintaining their physical health. This includes desk workers, athletes, students, and seniors!
Please note that MyoStretch Therapy is not intended to assess or diagnose injuries. This treatment is performed by a Therapy Assistant.
